These days, small or large firms spend thousands of dollars on network equipment and server room set ups. The protection and cleaning of these components and maintenance is essential for the efficient operation of your network. But how can you clean server room and network components in a secure and effective way?

A Regular Cleaning Schedule

A regular cleaning schedule in controlled environment will prevent the build up dirt, dust, and reduce the risk of expensive failure to daily operations. Hygienic and clean equipment will enhance the efficiency of a server room and thus cleaning and dusting of network components should be part of your scheduled activities. If you do not take attention, it can lead to unexpected losses. How would your company function if you have network failures due to contamination caused through dust equipment or environment?

Server and Hardware Rooms

Server and hardware rooms host a variety of components that require a stable and clean environment to function correctly. Dirt, dust and static will cause major malfunctions if they are not controlled properly. You should devise an initial deep cleaning plan that includes floor void components, hardware items, floor tiles, A/C units, ledges and doors.

Network Cable Testing

After the cleaning of network cables, it is time to test them. Cables need to be tested for end-to-end loss, continuity and other potential problems to make sure that each one is working to its full capacity. If you have any abandoned cables in the ceiling or walls, now is the time to fish them out and dispose of them.

Printers, Faxes, and Old Useless Hardware

Printers or fax machines are essential part of your network environment and along with the toners and cartridges they do come and go more often than your other hardware. The incorrect disposal of printers is hazardous to the environment as printers contain such material that can. Recycling of printers is the recommended solution. There are many online manufacturers who are providing online computer, hardware and printer recycling services. It is better to recycle your hardware components than sending them to landfill.

Recycling

Over many years, tons of electric equipment has been thrown away as garbage and this material proves harmful to the environment. These days, many firms are offering recycling programs for your old printer or hardware equipment. These firms will take old components in exchange of new components where you only need to pay a little amount of money or in many cases nothing at all. You can also donate your old components to some school or education institutes as a charity because it will prove a good disposal of your equipment. It is an effective way to make enough space for new equipment in your storage room.
