Google's Nexus One Phone Revealed!

Submitted by tharun on January 6, 2010 – 3:39 pm7 Comments

After weeks of teasing and leaking Google have officially revealed their Nexus One smart phone. Google calls it a 'Superphone', and by the looks of it, we're inclined to agree.

Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC (the creator of the hardware of the Nexus One) unveiled the gadget yesterday. Chou explained the genesis of the phone and members of the Nexus One Google team. Below are a few pics of the true iPhone killer. And here are the specs:

The Nexus One phone is loaded with a 3.7? AMOLED display with a trackball. Like the iPhone, the Nexus One comes with a light sensor, GPS, and accelerometer. It weighs 130 grams and is 11.5 (as wide as a pencil). The camera is pretty amazing, its a 5MP shooter with LED flash. The phone has got two microphones one of which is used for noise cancellation. The phone comes preloaded with five home screens to customize your interface. Photos can be viewed in 3D, and loading and uploading is made extremely easy. Shuffling around photos can be done using your hand and the acclerometer.

Other nifty features include voice enabled texting. The Nexus One automatically types in text when you speak into it. The Nexus One's interface is quite extraordinary, and the subtle touches are mouth watering. For example one of the wallpapers is a lake with leaves in it, if you touch the lake the water ripples. The phone is powered by Google's Android 2 operating system, and it runs wicker fast. You can buy the Nexus One at the Google web store. It costs $179 on T Mobile with a two-year contract. No word on when it would come to India and how much it would cost.
